![]() Like just having the character model blocking and having non-verbal ways to show themselves made a reasonable difference, and that's on top of how much FES improves the general story presentation with the additional cutscenes, the overworld, and not having everything blur into each other as much when it's not all presented in the same visual novel style. I think the portrayal of the social links with the additional presentation flourish is better though. Just wildly inconsistent and it's one of the many things that got cleaned up in Portable. And what's worse, in some menus the button to bring up details about a persona is the same as it is to dismiss the persona in a different menu. One of the most specific annoyances I have with FES is that in the fusion menu, the persona menu, the in battle persona menu, and the compendium, I'm pretty sure they use like three different buttons to do the same function of pulling up details about the persona. Like being able to change party gear outside of tartarus, being able to see party status outside of asking Fuuka, being able to save more often, being able to quick travel from any spot, being able to see what different skills do outside the skill menu, just better consistency in terms of how it's laid out and presented and which buttons do what in similar context without as much bloat. The much bigger QoL change for Portable imo is just all the little things. Even when playing Portable I only really used it in the same way I used tactics anyway. Plus the game isn't really balanced around needing to control them so I've never found it particularly frustrating. Even though they can be pretty dumb it kinda adds a certain charm and character imo. I do know about that mod, but honestly, my biggest problem has never been party member control. This is only the slightest bit better than just playing in PPSSPP with upscaling. Even the Nocturne rerelease got more love. It still looks like a Vita game, but the PC version (and presumably the new ports) was still genuinely the best version of the game yet released. Assets were actually redrawn and rebuilt, so they'd at least look decent on full-size screens. How hard could it have possibly have been to replace the original tracks with cleaner copies?īy comparison, they put far more effort into the P4G rerelease. Just the original ultra-compressed PSP versions which sound like they're coming through a tin can. Iwatodai Station, in particular, looks absolutely awful, with the bicycles outside so mangled they're barely recognizable.Īnd it's the same with the music. They don't even seem to have touched up the (probably) AI's work. It really is just P3P with no changes to speak of, aside from halfassed upscaling of the assets. Playing on PC now, and I honestly have a hard time believing how little effort went into this port. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
